Beavers are nature's super heroes, so we decided to have a Beaver Festival to celebrate these amazing ecosystem engineers!

Give A Dam is thrilled to announce Durango's first-ever Beaver Festival, June 14th, 2025, at Rotary park in Durango, Co centered around the theme "When We Partner With Nature, Everyone Wins." This exciting event will bring together many diverse organizations to highlight the numerous benefits of beavers and showcase the innovative work being done locally to maintain and restore our watersheds. By partnering with nature's most skilled water engineers—beavers—we can enhance water quality, recharge our water table, reduce flood risks, create fire resiliency, and support biodiversity.

Families, children, and other attendees will have the opportunity to engage with experts to learn about the science behind beaver ecology, and explore how supporting these remarkable creatures can create long-term environmental benefits.

By joining together to celebrate the incredible role of beavers in our watersheds, the Beaver Festival will demonstrate that when we partner with nature, everyone—from wildlife to local communities—wins!

Live Music

niceness.png

Niceness is an eight-piece roots reggae band based in the San Juan mountains of Telluride, Colorado, fronted by the powerful and passionate female vocalist Koral Delatierra. Since their formation in 2014, Niceness has become a beacon of conscious music, spreading uplifting and healing vibrations throughout their community and beyond. Their debut album, Sunshine (2016), set the stage with its radiant blend of reggae infused with soul, funk, Latin, and hip-hop, while their follow-up, Realize (2021), deepened their commitment to unifying messages and conscious grooves. Niceness creates music that is both grounding and transformative. Each song serves as an invitation to celebrate, heal, and come together as one, embracing the spirit of oneness and love. Whether through their heartfelt lyrics or the rich, vibrant instrumentation, Niceness believes in the power of music as a force for positive change. Their collective mission is simple yet profound: to strengthen the bonds that unite us as one global family while caring for the earth that sustains us all. In a world that needs connection and kindness more than ever, Niceness aims to create spaces where people can show up as they are, finding joy and solidarity in shared moments. Their music resonates with the hope that future generations may inherit a world rooted in love, harmony, and sustainability. One love, one family, one shared heartbeat

Tom Ward's Downfall Celtic trad music, Southwest Colorado, USA Traditional to the core, we are Colorado-based and play trad Celtic tunes and songs. When the four of us come together, from all our disparate day jobs, and play this music, something just clicks and we all feel it. You will too. That synergy brings together: • The Irish flute wizardry of Ed Webb • The brilliant, inspired intensity of our fiddler Ari Schermer • The fabric that ties us altogether, Erick Morningstar on his Irish bouzouki and Bodhran • and Danna Manganaro, percussion and vocalist doing the high sweet trad songs (and a few romping cheeky ones). Our coming together to perform this music is organic but brilliant in ways that continue to surprise us. We perform Celtic trad dance tunes, jigs, reels, and a collection of songs from bands we love out of Scotland, Ireland and across the UK. We perform live for Contra dances, a vibrant, appreciative group that we love. We seem to play to incredibly satisfied, enthusiastic audiences - every time. We hope you find a way to join us.
